Kalanchoe for Sheryl Leigh June 2006 |
When Sheryl Leigh left this physical world June 20th 2006 I(Sandra Kay Styger Wills, her mother) was given a small yellow Kalanchoe plant by my friend Lyndia Dodd.
I never had one and didn`t know what to expect.
For a long time it grew much bigger and I repotted it in a larger pot.
It had healthy leaves, but didn`t get any more blooms.
Just before Christmas 2007 it bloomed and keeps blooming.
I named it Sheryl Leigh
I think its a sign from her, that all is well.

Sheryl Leighs dainty gold necklace |
When Sheryl Leigh was about thirteen her dad(Bill Manlove) and I(mother, Sandra Kay Styger Manlove) gave her a 14 caret gold necklace for Christmas. You never took it off until it broke a few years ago. She was very upset.
I(her mother,Sandra Kay Styger Wills) said I`ll get you another one or try to repair the original, but you wanted to try to get it fixed yourself, but never got around to it.
You cherished everything that was ever given to you!
Sheryl Leighs bad accident 1969 |
Sheryl and one of her best friends Paula Holtz who lived next door on Gopp Court, Cheyenne, Wyoming were attempting to cross a railroad trussle over a busy freeway.
Somehow Sheryl fell many feet onto the freeway. She was knocked out when when she hit her chin on the concrete support. She broke several teeth on the way down. She suffered a compound fracture to her right femer and bruises when she hit the freeway. Luckily two Air Force medics were driving by and she was taken to Memorial Hospital.
She was put into a body cast for a couple of months.
She was able to come home for Christmas. We slid her into the
back of the family station wagon.
She complained of terrible pain behind her knee and when the cast was removed off they discovered the cast had rubbed the skin away. She had a scar there the rest of her life.
Its a miracle she survived.
